Zhu Shize, Party Secretary of QNU, Led a Delegation to the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand

From December 6th to 15th, at the invitations of Philippine Chinese Education ResearchCenter, INTI International University of Malaysia and Dhurakij Pundit University of Thailand, Zhu Shize, the Party Secretary of Quanzhou Normal University, led a delegation to the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. The delegation also included staff from the Foreign Affairs Office, the Academic Affairs Office, the Graduate Office and the School of Literature and Communication.

Meeting with Mr. Chen Zuchang

During the visit in the Philippines, the delegation visited Philippine Chinese Education Research Center, Philippine Cultural College and the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc., as well as the overseas Chinese teachers from QNU including Chen Hui and five others. They also paid a key visit to Chen Yongzai, the honorary chairman of  the school board of directorsand Chen Zuchang, vice chairman of the school board of directors. Zhu Shize introduced QNU's recent development and the “three-step” development strategy, and had extensive and in-depth discussions with Huang DuanmingChairman of Philippine Chinese Education Research Center, Liang ShumeiDirector General of Philippine Cultural College, Huang WanrongPresident of Philippine Cultural College, Huang Nianrong Director General of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc., etc. They exchanged views on a wide range of topics from construction and development of QNU to the Chinese education in the Southeast Asia. Chen Yongzai signed an agreement and promised to donate 10 million yuan to support the construction and development of the school. Chen Zuchang expressed his willingness to set up funds for school construction and development.  

 Visiting MUB Education Center

During the stay in Malaysia, the delegation visited INTI International University, MUB Education Center, Southern University College and Hokkien Huay Kuan in Johor Bahru. Zhu Shize introduced to them QNU's basic information and cooperation intention, and conducted in-depth discussions on further cooperation in the future. The delegation also held in-depth talks with both Director General and President of Southern University College, Zhang Ruifa and Zhu Jiahua, as well as other relevant personnel, reached consensus on strengthening teacher-student exchanges and cooperation in Chinese education, and signed a memorandum of cooperation between Quanzhou Normal University and Southern University College.

 Signing an Agreement with Thai-Chinese Education Exchange Center

In Thailand the delegation visited Education Center and Srinakorn School of Chinese School Association in Southern Thailand,  Krirk University, Dhurakij Pundit University and Thai-Chinese Education Exchange Center, as well as Zhu Xiaomin, a volunteer overseas Chinese teacher from QNU selected by the Chinese Language Council, or Hanban. The delegation listened to the briefings of the above-mentioned organizations, introduced the current situation of QNU's construction and development, and jointly discussed related cooperation matters. A consensus was reached with Chairman of the Management Committee of Krirk University and CAIC Executive Dean of Dhurakij Pundit University, Dr. Wang Changming, concerning the exchange program of teachers and students, master straight entrance program for students and doctoral degree program for teachers. A memorandum of cooperation between QNU and Kirik University was signed. The delegation also held talks with Wei Guanglei from Chinese School Association in Southern Thailand and Bao Luntian from Thai-Chinese Education Exchange Center, discussing the Sino-Thai Chinese education cooperation, recommendation for Thai students to study in Quanzhou and Chinese students to work in Thailand. Memoranda of cooperation were signed respectively.

The visit has further promoted exchanges and cooperation between QNU and various schools in Southeast Asia, strengthened the links with overseas Quanzhou elites and school board directors, expanded QNU's influence and openness, and built a higher-level platform of international education.
