QNU Held the Forum on Localization of Confluent Education of Eight Universities across the Taiwan Strait

Quanzhou Normal University launched the Forum on Localization of Confluent Education from June 14 to 15. Experts and researchers in special education from eight universities across the Taiwan Strait met to explore latest research findings and best practices of localization of confluent education with teachers and students from some institutions focusing on special education in Fujian Province. About 350 participants attended and greatly benefited from the two-day forum.

At the opening ceremony, QNU President Qu Guangqing gave a welcome speech, expressing that QNU would take this forum as an opportunity to promote the teaching and research in the field of  special education, as well as to build an open and interactive academic platform to generate new ideas and achievements on the discipline and to pave a way for the advancement of special education. At the same time, the President invited participants’ continuing efforts to support the QNU’s development in teaching and research in this field, and to facilitate the implementation of the QNU’s 'five-project' construction and 'three-step' development strategy.

The eight universities across the Taiwan Strait, including Dong Hwa University (DHU), Chiayi University, Taitung University, Taipei University of Education, Chongqing Normal University, Yuzhang Normal University, Quanzhou Normal University and Beijing Union University, co-organized the forum to serve as a platform to promote the development in the field of confluent education and to share experience and achievements on research. Forums with five different themes had been held in the past several years, among which the first forum was launched by DHU. The current forum, titled 'Exploration and Innovation on the Localization of Confluent Education', was organized by QNU. The forum included three parallel sessions with rich topics covering practical confluent education, teaching and learning in confluent education and psychological counseling for special students. It aimed to promote the cooperation among the universities and to develop the teaching and research in special education across the Taiwan Strait.
