Recently, the Teacher Education Department of the Ministry of Education (MOE), issued the notice on “Securing the Implementation of the Cooperation Projects by MOE and UNICEF from 2021 to 2025”. QNU was officially selected as the pilot school in one of the projects, China's Integrated Education Promotion: Teachers' Professional Ability Improvement.

The 2021-2025 cooperation projects between MOE and UNICEF are jointly planned by the Department of Teacher Education of MOE and the UNICEF office in China, with UNICEF providing technical and financial support.

According to the implementation plan, QNU will carry out the pilot work of China's Integrated Education Promotion: Teachers' Professional Ability Improvement with other 9 colleges and universities, including East China Normal University, Shaanxi Normal University, Shandong Normal University, etc. The main tasks are to develop the resources of integrated education general courses for students in normal colleges and universities, to improve their abilities to carry out integrated education, and to explore and form a new mechanism for training teachers of integrated education.

With its 100-year history of normal education, QNU has practiced the special education plus mode in schooling. Teacher-education majors such as pre-school education and primary education regard the concept and ability of integrated education as an important index in talent training. Therefore, special education and integrated education courses are covered in professional talent training programs. With the development of integrated education curriculum resources, the teacher-education programs are characterized with the combination of both general and special education. QNU’s being selected in the project demonstrates that its teaching quality of special education and its schooling model of integrated education have been widely recognized by domestic peers, earning itself a place in the first tier of promoting integrated education in China.
