QNU Students Won 5 Awards in the 11th China Marine Vehicle Design and Construction Competition

The national final for the 11th China Marine Vehicle Design and Construction Competition (CMVC) has been successfully held at Northwestern Polytechnical University from Aug. 13 to 14, 2022. Two teams from the School of Transportation and Navigation achieved outstanding performance in the competition with their intelligence and perseverance, winning one grand prize, one first prize, and two second prizes. Among them, the Team “Braving the Winds” (instructed by Huang Yanyu & Huang Jianwei, with members of Zan Xuyang, Yu Xiaoyang, Zhu Hai, Cheng Yiming, and Li Siquan) won the grand prize in Category E2, Model Boat Racing with Modified Power, and the second prize in Category E1, Model Boat Racing with Regular Power, and the Team “Wave-rider” (instructed by Dai Guanquan & Huang Yanyu, with members of Huang Shaoyong, Yu Yaoyao, Lv Zheng, Yuan Xinjie, and Liu Youzhao) won the first prize in Category G, Marine Knowledge Contest, and the second prize in Category E1, Model Boat Racing with Regular Power. It was the first time for QNU students to participate and achieve great results in the CMVC, making a breakthrough in this event.

With the largest scale and widest coverage, the CMVC is the top competition in the field of marine engineering in China. This year, more than 8000 students from 396 universities and institutions participated in this two-phase competition, regional and national. Two teams from QNU took part in 5 events of the Cross-strait Competition held from Jul. 10 to 13, winning two first prizes, two second prizes, and one third prize, and successfully entered the national competition. A total of 751 teams from 107 institutions participated in the national competition with 955 entries. Among them, 137 teams competed for 36 awards in Category E, Model Boat Racing, and 204 teams competed for 17 awards in Category G, Marine Knowledge Contest.
